The long awaited historical first Discipleship training workshop (6.16-20) began at 6 p.m. on June 16th in Leningrad House, Chicago Center.
The title was "After God's own heart." 45 registered from all North America. Many senior shepherds also came (Dr. Joe Shaefer, P. Ron Ward, P. Teddy Hembekides, P. Mark Vucecovich, M.Jacob Lee, M. David Baik, Dr. Sam Zun, Dr. Henry Park, M. Isaac Kim, Dr. Paul Hong) from the first meeting.
M. Sarah Barry gave an opening message based on Acts 13:22 "After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: 'I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do." She encouraged all disciples to learn how to be a man and woman after God's heart through this workshop. She also mentioned that through training David became a man who loves God, obeys God and became a shepherd king who resembles King of king Jesus. She prayed that we may become like David through enduring God's training.
We had group bible studies in 10 groups. After an ice break activities P. Teddy delivered a heart moving message titled, "Hannah a woman of prayer." The prophet Samuel was great figure in God's history. But behind Samuel was his mother Hannah. Samuel was the product of Hannah's prayer. Hannah's story is a story of true leadership. Through her prayer a new history was made for Israel and for the world. If David was a man after God's heart, Hannah was a woman after God's heart. P. Teddy concluded that God may raise many women of prayer like Hannah. The delicious dinner was served by UIC coworkers and special song was given by three Columbus women of prayers. At 10:00 p.m. the meeting was over. |
