I'm writing to let you know that yesterday (Nov 3rd) I passed my dissertation defense for a PhD degree in Philosophy at the University of Waterloo, with minor revisions. So once I get the revisions done, and all the formalities taken care of, my PhD degree in Philosophy will be complete. I will graduate and actually get the degree in June 2009.

Jennifer and I are very thankful for your prayers and the prayers of so many of God's people. I believe that God's amazing love and grace, along with these prayers are largely responsible for enabling me to do a good job and finish in good time. My plan is to teach at the University of Waterloo this term and next term (as a sessional lecturer), and then hopefully to begin a (two-year) post-doctoral position at the end of the summer for the sake of getting my research career started, which will put me in a better position to be on the job market for professor positions. If the funding from the government comes through, I plan to take up the post-doctoral position at SUNY at Buffalo in upstate New York, which is two hours from Waterloo. I plan to continue to live in Waterloo and participate in the ministry here, but to stay in Buffalo during the week when necessary.
