TO REACH THE WHOLE WORLD WITH THE GOSPEL BY EVANGELIZING AND DISCIPLING COLLEGE STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THE CHICAGO AREA.
Matthew 28:18-20
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Chicago University Bible Fellowship (UBF) was born in 1977 when the late Dr. Samuel Lee and Sarah Barry began sharing the gospel with college students through sincere Bible study. As the name indicates our ministry focus is on university students, and we are dedicated to Bible study which leads to healthy Christian fellowship and the fulfillment of Jesus’ world mission purpose. Through Chicago UBF, gospel ministries have vibrantly spread throughout Chicago campuses and to the USA and the whole world. Chicago UBF serves as a headquarters for world mission.
We believe the Bible is the living word of God to us today. Through prayerful dependence on the Holy Spirit we want to listen to God’s word and put it into practice and help others do the same. Jesus said, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” (Mt 7:24)
Jesus’ command to his people is to “make disciples of all nations…” (Mt 28:18). This is the goal of our Bible study and the purpose of our ministry. As Jesus raised disciples among young people of his time, we believe he has called us to raise disciples among college students and teenagers in our time.
God’s heart to save people of all nations through the gospel of Jesus is expressed through the repetition of his world mission imperative in each gospel and throughout the whole Bible. For this reason we pray seriously that missionaries would be raised and sent to all peoples of all nations before Jesus comes again.
