1. In verses 1–3, what words and phrases does Paul repeat? Who is he contrasting here? What does it mean to “pass judgment”? Why does Paul repeat the expression “O man”? What does he mean that these people “practice the very same things” (see 1:29–31)?
2. In verse 4, how does Paul describe God? What does it mean to “presume on” God’s kindness? What does it mean to repent? What will happen to judgmental people who refuse to do so (verse 5)?
3. In verse 6, what is God’s principle for judging? What leads to “glory and honor and immortality” versus what leads to “wrath and fury” (7–10)? Why does Paul say “the Jew first and also the Greek” (9,10)? How does he describe God’s judgment (11)?
