Prayer Topics

I am humbled and greatly honored that God has allowed me to be here with His servants at this time and to share the following prayer topics. My name is Nancy M. from Kenya UBF. I have divided the prayer topics into three categories: UBF Kenya prayer topics, CBF Kenya prayer topics, and my personal prayer topics.

Kenya UBF Prayer Topics
Vision and Key Verse: To deeply learn the power of Jesus’s salvation grace by obeying Philippians 3:10: “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.”

  1. For our director, Pastor Juma F., to have wisdom and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to lead the ministry.

  2. To raise 20 house churches.

  3. To pioneer 5 new chapters.

  4. For 120 teams of Bible study and 200 attendees at worship services.

  5. For each shepherd to feed at least two sheep.

CBF Kenya Prayer Topics

  1. For our children to learn the ways of the Lord, according to our CBF key verse, Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

  2. For the children to meet Jesus personally and tell others about Him.

  3. That God blesses the devotion of the CBF teachers and gives them strength and grace as they serve in the Children’s Ministry. As the leader, I co-work with Missionary Esther H., Shepherd Kevin N., Dr. Lucy O., Shepherd Cliffton O., Shepherd Edith, and recently Shepherd Queenter O.

Kenya CBF

Personal Prayers

  1. For wisdom and strength to do what God says.

  2. We desire to serve in Kenya UBF, but in recent years, we have experienced several challenges, including economic difficulties and concerns about the future of our children’s education. We are asking God whether we should continue staying in Kenya or if He will open an avenue for us elsewhere.

  3. For our children: Daniel, Nathaniel, and Lamuel.

  4. That our family may be a source of blessing to this generation.

CBF Easter Worship Service (EWS) https://www.chicagoubf.org/easter/cbf-easter-worship-service-ews Tue, 09 Apr 2024 20:25:38 +0000 http://www.chicagoubf.org/?p=13886

Chicago UBF’s Children’s Bible Fellowship had a vibrant Easter celebration on Saturday, March 30th, 2024! The main message was led by Anthony L. based on Luke 23:50-24:12. For this year they had an unconventional easter egg hunt where the focus was on Jesus’ Resurrection! CBF aims to steer children to Jesus and not the secular views taught in common holidays today.

The easter egg hunt started with teachers handing out coloring pages to each grade and the students were instructed to think about how the image is related to Jesus’ resurrection. There are 12 eggs with 12 different images symbolizing an event of the Ressurection. A palm branch, silver coins, a cup, flowers, a rooster, a crown of thorns, the cross, dice, a spear, linen cloth, a stone, and the final one is blank representing the empty tomb. The egg hunt/ coloring was followed up with a “Resurrection Egg” storytelling, where students were encouraged to share what they learned about the Ressurection. After the service, there was a pizza party held in the church basement. May God continue to bless the CBF ministry for the children to be raised up on the word of God.

CBF Christmas Worship Service 2023

Thank God for blessing the CBF Christmas Worship Service on Saturday, December 23! Pastor Tim McEathron delivered a very engaging, powerful, and joyful message based on Luke 2:8-20 titled “Good News of Great Joy”.

There was a celebration by BBF and each grade celebrated Christmas by their performances. There was an amazing drama by the 6-8th graders, a teacher’s special song, and a pizza dinner afterward. Every year for Christmas all children, babies-8th grade, celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ together with their families. All grades prepare one special program as their offering to the baby Jesus ending with a full drama by 6-8th graders. God blessed the CBF Christmas worship service to be fruitful and blessed with many hard-working children and teachers who spent weeks putting together the preparations for the service and prayed and studied the bible every Saturday preparing their hearts for celebrating the birth of Jesus. You can watch Pastor Tim’s message and the full program below!

CBF Had their Annual Hallelujah Light Festival https://www.chicagoubf.org/cbf/cbf-had-their-annual-hallelujah-light-festival Tue, 07 Nov 2023 17:41:20 +0000 http://www.chicagoubf.org/?p=12886

Hallelujah Light Festival

Our annual Hallelujah Light Festival took place this year on Tuesday, Oct. 31st! There was a bouncy house, a joyful message, unique and homemade games for all ages, pizza, candy, and a dinner.  CBF teachers and volunteers spent the night before setting up and decorating the church basement with balloons, homemade games, and a pumpkin painting table. Lots of children came with their whole family and some even brought with their friends.

The Hallelujah Light Festival is our Church’s replacement for Halloween, it is an event the church has celebrated for more than 10 years. Every year there is a Bible-themed costume contest and many children come dressed up in fun and creative costumes. For many children, this is a great way to experience the fun of candy and dressing up while also learning about the joy of Jesus. Through this event, we can overcome the darkness of Halloween with the light of Jesus! It is a great opportunity for children to hear a message about Christ, play games, dress up, and get free candy!

Chicago UBF Church-Wide Picnic.

The Chicago UBF church-wide picnic took place on Sunday, September 3rd at Bunker Hill #5 about a 20-minute drive from the Church center. The weather was beautiful and the food was delicious. It was a great opportunity for different ministries and fellowships to come together and have fellowship. The event featured BBQ, engaging games, and fun activities suitable for all ages. Dervilla W. led a Zumba dance activity, many students played games and hung around. Chicago UBF normally hosts a church-wide picnic once a year around the end of summer. But because of the pandemic these past two years, the picnic had to be postponed but thank God we got to resume the picnic this year!

Reflecting on ISBC 2023

ISBC 2023 took place from August 3-6 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Before and after the conference many of the Chicago UBF members volunteered, prayed, and prepared for the International Summer Bible Conference. From hosting the messenger camp and international delegates to the Chicago praise team leading praise and worship at the conference, many Chicago UBF members worked hard and did their part in serving God through this conference.

Many different members shared their talents and skills at the conference for God’s Glory, there were those who participated in the orchestra, those who sang in the chorus, and especially many of the Chicago UBF members who worked backstage preparing the lighting and video for the main session. Even outside of the main program, there were members who led group bible studies, volunteered at CBF, and our very own Chicago High School Bible Fellowship hosted the HBF program at ISBC.

Before the conference, Chicago UBF welcomed many people from abroad who came in preparation for ISBC. For many foreign delegates, Chicago was a rest stop before making it to Urbana. In May 2023, before the ISBC conference, Chicago UBF members welcomed the ISBC messengers who came to prepare their messages at the Messenger Camp. For Vision Camp which took place right before the conference, many Chicago UBF members hosted and served the Vision Camp participants welcoming them and providing housing, meals, and rides. After the conference, the Chicago hospitality team hosted international delegates, taking them on tours around the city and providing rides and food.

We thank God for the many people who wholeheartedly served and blessed the conference. And to those who prayed for weeks before the conference. May we continue to see His Glory.

Bible Bee Memorization

The Children’s bible fellowship held a Bible Bee competition on Saturday, May 27th, 2023. For this years’ competition they memorized Psalm 139, which consists of 24 verses. There were 32 participants, 8 of which memorized the passage perfectly word for word and 20 of whom memorized all the verses.

Thank God for the amazing devotion and skills of the CBF children, may they continue to grow in truth and wisdom.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!” -Psalm 139:23-24
