Merry Christmas!

“In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him” (1 John 4:9).

Christmastime is here, and we want to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Why do we celebrate? Especially when the world is so troubled?

The more we think about it, the more we get anxious, or angry, or even despair.

We have our own share of troubles, too.

But God sending his Son to this world is the most amazing gift ever given. In fact, his gift is life-changing. He brings us hope, peace, love, and joy, like nothing and no one else can.

He’s the real answer not only for us, but for all people of the world.

At our Christmas worship service we especially want to think about the love we see in his birth, based on 1 John 4:7–12.

What is this love, and what do we do with it? During the service, there will be a Bible message, an inspiring Christmas drama, a beautiful chorus, and music.

We pray and believe God will lift all our spirits and fill us with his life-giving love that overcomes the world.

*1 John 4:7-12,
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
