Philippians Study: Having a Real Relationship with Jesus
Part Two: A New Humility
Lesson 4: Philippians 2:1–4 (Go to ESV Bible Verses)
Read the passage carefully several times
- In verse 1, what does Paul say happens to someone who is “in Christ”? Why does he repeat the word “any”?
- In light of this, what does Paul urge those in Christ to do, and why (verse 2; see also 1:27b)? What do the words “complete my joy” tell us about Paul?
- List the specific instructions in verses 3 and 4 Paul gives. What attitude is he teaching? Why does our relationship with Christ need to be seen in the way we relate to others?
- Reflecting on these verses, what key verse would you choose, and why?
- What do we learn here about living with a real relationship with Jesus? How can we grow in a real relationship with him and with others? What one thing can you do this week?
